In 2011, a new MMORPG began development. Over a decade later, the MMORPG Throne and Liberty is about to be released. This exciting new story-based game with an emphasis on combat mechanics just recently got tested with over 3,000 people swarming the game at once and is going slated to be available in 2023. Throne and Liberty isn’t available for testing by the world yet, but videos of their tests have been made available. The developers, NCSOFT, have also been generous about talking about their plans and progress over the last few years, giving us a rich picture of what we can expect.

Stunning Graphics

The first thing we notice looking at the test runs is that a lot of work has been done on the world Throne and Liberty takes place in. Characters are customizable, and everything in the game looks sharp and clear. The world of this game is vast, with cities and kingdoms rolling out before you waiting to be explored.

Lots of Features

According to the developers this game will be heavily story-based. There’s very little information on what that story is at this time. What they did reveal about the game however is pretty exciting. The game has unique fighting mechanics that allow your knowledge to turn the tide in battle.

As an example, if you are a thunder mage and it starts to rain during the battle, you can use the weather to your advantage. If you are an archer and there is a sudden gust of wind, that wind will affect your aim.

This has a lot of potential to make gameplay exciting, and to help keep mechanics that can otherwise get boring quickly stay fresh. The battle you won easily on a clear sunny day may prove difficult in poor weather, changing the result of the next battle unless you change with it.

Lots of PvE content

Although PvP is available throughout the game, NCSOFT is aware that people also enjoy PvE as well. The game has several bosses in it that take multiple people having a good understanding of the mechanics working together to take it down.

This game was originally meant to be part of the Lineage 2 line, and you can still see a heavy Lineage influence in it. If you’re not sure what to expect from this game, grabbing a copy of Lineage II may help you see what Throne and Liberty may be like.

If you’ve enjoyed past MMORPG games and are looking for something new and exciting, Throne and Liberty is it. While the game is still in testing and isn’t open to even beta play yet, it is obvious from the test play releases that this game will be a thrilling option once it is out.
